Abstracts for the European Geothermal Congress 2019 are accepted until 17 September 2018

The European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC), in cooperation with Stichting Platform Geothermie, BodemenergieNL, DAGO and the main event sponsor Energie Beheer Nederland B.V. (EBN) are pleased to announce that the 2019 edition of the European Geothermal Congress (EGC) will be held on 11-14th June 2019 at the World Forum, The Hague, in The Netherlands.

The European Geothermal Congress is the event which brings together the entire European geothermal sector and attracts many from outside the continent. What makes the conference unique is both its diversity – it provides a varied public with a range of different events -, and its size – it is the largest geothermal congress in Europe. Hosting a combination of events for different stakeholders – including a scientific conference, an exhibition, training courses, site visits, and networking events – creates a unique opportunity for those working in different aspects of geothermal, whether academic, industrial or societal, to come together.

The congress is organised by EGEC, the European Geothermal Energy Council, which is the trade association for geothermal in Europe.

The deadline for submissions of abstract for the European Geothermal Congress 2019 has been extended until Monday 17th September 2018.
We have received many requests to extend the deadline for submission of abstracts for the European Geothermal Congress 2019. In addition, we are aware that the congress website may not have been accessible for short periods of time during the past week. This was an identified service issue with our web hosting company, which has since been resolved.
As a result, the EGC 2019 Organising Committee has decided to extend the final deadline for the Call for Abstracts.

You are advised, however, to submit your abstract as soon as possible.
We thank the many people who have already made their submission. We remind that they may also edit, review, and/or re-upload a file until the closing of the Call for Abstracts, using their submission ID and password. Only the latest file uploaded will be kept.

The organisers request the submission of abstracts for papers concerning all areas of geothermal energy use, from very shallow systems to deep drilling and high-enthalpy fields. Both the technological and the social-economic side will be covered.

The programme will be divided into three basic threads or “streams”, using the practises and standards appropriate to each respective target group. We hope, however, that you will use this unique opportunity to look outside your own normal sphere or interest and learn about the work of those in other fields, all connected by the desire to give geothermal energy the spot on the energy landscape it deserves!

The “streams” are:

  • Politics and Market
  • Technology, Innovation and Best Practice
  • Science
  • Abstract submission deadline is September 17th 2018.

The authors will be informed of the decision on acceptance of their abstracts in November 2018. Final papers will be required by February 2019. The papers (maximum 10 pages) will be published in the conference proceedings in electronic form.

Information about the conference fees will be available in December 2018.
