Lustrumsymposium GAOS en Lulofs

In de week van 13 t/m 17 november viert de opleiding fysische geografie / aardwetenschappen van de Universiteit van Amsterdam haar 75-jarig bestaan.

In dezelfde week vieren studievereniging GAOS en alumnivereniging Lulofs hun 25-jarig bestaan. Ter ere van deze feestelijkheden wordt een week vol activiteiten gepland, met als een van de hoogtepunten een dagvullend symposium op donderdag 16 november. Dit symposium wordt georganiseerd voor iedereen die een band heeft met de opleiding fysische geografie / aardwetenschappen aan de UvA, maar ook voor fysisch geografen en geïnteresseerden vanuit andere universiteiten, het bedrijfsleven of bijvoorbeeld aardrijkskundedocenten.

Deelnemers aan het symposium (of een van de andere activiteiten, zoals een excursie en een lustrumfeest) kunnen zich inschrijven op www.svgaos.nl/lustrum. Op de website is ook het programma te zien.

Het lustrum zal plaatsvinden in de Oerknal op het Science Park vanaf 09.30 uur. Om de lunch en aansluitende borrel te kunnen bekostigen, vraagt de organisatie een bijdrage van €25,- per deelnemer. Voor studenten en alumni geldt een kortingsregeling (GAOS leden betalen €5 en Lulofsleden betalen €10). Lunch en twee drankjes na afloop (16.00 uur) zijn inbegrepen.

Het ochtendprogramma zal gaan over 75 jaar fysische geografie aan de UvA, met bekende gezichten van het IBED. Tijdens het lunchbuffet is er een informatiemarkt. Het middagprogramma staat in het teken van de toekomstontwikkeling van Groot Amsterdam. Externe sprekers zijn uitgenodigd om vanuit hun expertise het beeld van Amsterdam in 2035 te schetsen op landschappelijk, stedelijk en ecologisch niveau.

During the week of the 13th – 17th of November, the Physical Geography programme of the University of Amsterdam will celebrate its 75th birthday. This coincides with the 25th birthday of study association GAOS and alumni association Lulofs. To celebrate these events, GAOS and Lulofs organize a lustrum week from the 13th – 17th of November with several (study related) activities. One of the core activities of this week will be a full day symposium on Thursday the 16th of November. This symposium is organized for all students, alumni and staff of the Physical Geography / Earth Science departments of the University of Amsterdam as well as all external parties with a link to Physical Geography or the University of Amsterdam. For instance, geography teachers, professionals, staff of physical geography departments at other universities and enthusiasts are cordially invited.

The symposium will take place on the 16th of November starting 09.30 in cafe de Oerknal, at the Science Park in Amsterdam. To cover the expenses and to be able to offer lunch and a drink afterwards, a contribution of €25,- per attendee is asked. Students and alumni will receive a discount and pay €5,- (GAOS members) or €10,- (Lulofs members). This includes lunch and two drinks after the symposium (at 16.00).

The morning part of the program will cover 75 years of Physical Geography at the UvA, with some familiar faces of the IBED. In the afternoon the development of Amsterdam and its surroundings. Several invited speakers will sketch an image from their expertise on Amsterdam in 2035, on a landscape, urban and ecological level.
