Abstract: Analogue studies help us understand the subsurface, providing a rationale for predictions about the gaps in our limited view. Old-fashioned field work proved to be instrumental in evaluating the reservoir potential of low net-to-gross fluvial stratigraphy in gas-prone basin fringes. Subsurface data in such intervals are scarce, having previously been discarded as non-reservoir ‘waste zones’. This presentation focuses on the integration of different analogues with the subsurface, highlighting novel means of data acquisition going hand in hand with more-traditional methods.
