Dutch Earth Sciences – development and impact, Floor, P. (coord. ed.), 2012. The Hague, KNGMG, 304 pp.

GAIA, a network for female earth scientists, was founded in 1998 and one of the associations (‘Kringen’) of KNGMG. The network was disbanded at the end of October 2023.

GAIA’s overall objective was advocacy for women in the earth sciences to achieve gender equality. GAIA offered women with an earth science background, career or interest opportunities to meet and network, by organizing for example dinners and excursions, and support in their (career) development. Knowledge and expertise were exchanged through newsletters, workshops and symposia.

The public archive of GAIA can be downloaded here.
