Virtual: PGK monthly lecture
The monthly lecture will be held as a virtual meeting. Our guest speakers will be Erika Neeft and Jeroen Bartol (COVRA) and they will give a talk about “Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste”. The lecture will start at 18:00 hrs and end about one hour later. You can join this lecture by clicking the link below shortly before the start of the meeting: Join Microsoft Teams Meeting.
18:00-19:00 hrs: Lecture (Virutal)
The storage of radioactive waste at COVRA is not a nal, long-term solution. After a hundred years of storage, a large part of the waste will still be radioactive. According to the current state of science and technology, disposal of this long-lived waste in stable geological layers in the deep underground is the only solution to ensure that the waste will still remain out of the human living environment after hundreds of thousands of years. This is referred to as deep geological disposal. Research into deep geological disposal is an integral part of Dutch radioactive waste policy and this research is nanced and coordinated by COVRA.
